The core idea of the Dvořák Prague international music Festival has always been to promote the reputation of Czech culture through the legacy of Antonín Dvořák’s work, his contemporaries, and his students.
Especially since quality is the sole criterion of the festival, only top soloists, conductors, internationally acclaimed orchestras, and chamber ensembles take the stage at Dvořák Prague Festival, presenting Dvořák’s music and works by other world composers to an international audience.
Since its founding in 2008, the Dvořák Prague Festival, has been able to boast many unique achievements. For example, in 2014, the world premiere of Dvořák’s earliest opera, Alfréd (1870), with its original German libretto, was included in the festival’s program.
As part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, the festival presented Dvořák’s oratorio Saint Ludmila in an unabridged version to the audience of Prague.
Also worth mentioning is the open‑air concert United by Mahler, which took place in 2024. At the Prague Exhibition Grounds, the combined orchestras of the Czech Philharmonic and the Bamberg Symphony performed under the baton of conductor Jakub Hrůša, who became the festival’s artist‑in‑residence the same year.
