The international radio competition for young musicians, Concertino Praga, is entering its 59th edition! A total of 59 contestants from 11 countries around the world have applied. The finalists will be selected by a professional jury on May 12th. The Karel Komárek Family Foundation has been a long‑term supporter of the competition.

This year, for the first time, the competition will be divided into two categories:

  • Solo Performance I – for the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, piano, harp, and accordion.

  • Solo Performance II – for the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, and trombone.

Expert juries composed of distinguished musicians will meet for the first round on May 12, 2025.

There will be two final concerts this year, held on the following dates and at the following venues:

  • Final of Solo Performance II – Bethlehem Chapel, Friday, September 12, 2025, at 7:00 PM

  • Final of Solo Performance I – Rudolfinum, Dvořák Hall, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM

The final concerts will also feature a special “Talent Stage”. This showcase will take place in Suk Hall at Prague’s Rudolfinum on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM and will present musicians who narrowly missed making it to the finals.

Since its founding in 1966, Concertino Praga has served as a springboard for young musical talent. The first winner was violinist Dmitry Sitkovetsky, while last year’s edition was won by Polish violinist Zoja Syguda. Who will join the ranks of laureates in 2025?

Follow the competition and don’t miss its highlight performances!
