Children's Village in Hodonín

The MAAUS studio (an architectural and urbanisation studio from Brno) took the opportunity and fully engaged in designing the restoration of the destroyed children's town area. On the site, where only two brick buildings remained after the tornado, 13 new cabins will be built. And not just that.

About the Transformation

What are our plans?

In the suburban forest area of Bažantnice, a main building with facilities will be constructed. These will include new community spaces, a fire pit, and playgrounds for children, youth, and adults. The greenery restoration is planned in several phases, with the first planting stage already completed. The buildings and the entire area, which will also serve educational purposes, will be designed to maintain harmony with the surrounding landscape. The project documentation, which anticipates that multiple groups will be outdoors simultaneously, engaging in recreational activities or hosting community events, has already been prepared.

The village primarily served children who engaged in leisure activities here. And that was our main focus. We want the area to be a pleasant and modern environment where all visitors feel comfortable.

More about the transformation

As a unifying architectural element of the buildings, we chose a gabled roof. Partially private verandas, connecting the interior with the exterior, will encourage children and other visitors to participate in outdoor activities. We draw inspiration from the original atmosphere of a quiet and shady oak forest. We aim to restore it by planting mature trees. The greenery will seamlessly transition into the emerging recreational space of the suburban Bažantnice forest.
