Antonín Dvořák Prize

This prestigious prize is presented by the Academy of Classical Music, of which we have been the main patron since 2009. Together, we annually honor individuals, groups of artists, and entire institutions for outstanding artistic achievements or for their contributions to the promotion of Czech classical music both domestically and internationally.

Since 2012, the Academy Council has been responsible for selecting the laureates of the prize. The council is composed of prominent figures from Czech culture and the world of classical music. It decides on nominations as well as the final recipient of the prize. Past honorees include Chief Conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Jakub Hrůša, pianist Sir András Schiff, conductor Jiří Bělohlávek, and dramatic soprano Ludmila Dvořáková. You can read more about all the laureates, including the Prague Philharmonic Choir, on the website of the Academy of Classical Music.

Thanks to the stellar quality of the artists who have received the Antonín Dvořák Prize so far—artists who are nearly unmatched—the prize enjoys exceptional renown. Antonín Dvořák played a fundamental role in shaping my aspirations as a conductor. He is a composer to whom I devote myself with great love and passionate dedication. Dvořák and his school hold a privileged place in Czech music.
